Do you like the look of your natural eyelashes, but feel like they could use some help? Latisse® from our Richmond-based practice is a simple and effective solution.
Latisse® is a popular topical formula from the trusted manufacturer Allergan, designed to stimulate the growth of significantly longer and darker eyelashes. It’s an excellent way to achieve more noticeable lashes without relying on extensions or mascara.
If your lashes are ready for Latisse®, our Richmond-based team is ready to help. Whether you have used Latisse® in the past or just want to learn more, Vancouver-area patients can set up an appointment by filling out our online contact form, or by calling 604-674-1997.
Latisse® is an ophthalmic solution that uses bimatoprost as its active ingredient to stimulate eyelash growth on the upper eyelid. All it takes is a few drops applied to the base of the lashes each day.
The bimatoprost mimics a natural compound in the body, prostaglandin, which is known to trigger hair growth. Not only does this increase the number of lashes grown, but it also lengthens the time they spend growing. Latisse® users describe fuller and longer lashes after regular use.
Dr. Robyn Watts is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction, cosmetic breast surgery, and body contouring. Trained in Canada and the U.S., she leads plastic surgery at Richmond Hospital, practices at Cambie Surgical Centre, teaches at UBC, and is known for meticulous technique, compassion, and natural results.
Latisse® augments the natural growth process of your eyelashes, so it requires several weeks of regular application before it can produce full results. Most patients can expect their lashes to reach their maximum potential after eight to 12 weeks of use.
After that, patients are advised to continue using Latisse® in order to maintain their results. Patients who stop using the bimatoprost solution typically see their eyelashes regress to their prior length and fullness within a few weeks.
Latisse® can be incorporated into any daily skincare or “getting ready” routine. The medication is administered via single-use applicators, which must be handled carefully in order to get the best results.
Every application should begin with a clean face and surrounding surfaces.
One drop is placed on a sterile applicator held horizontally, which is then drawn along the base of the upper-lid lashes, right where they meet the skin. Move the applicator from the inner to the outer lash line.
Excess solution can be blotted away with a tissue, and all of the materials involved—the tissue and the applicator—should be thrown away. A new, separate sterile applicator must always be used for applying Latisse® to the second eyelid. This maximizes sterility and safety.
Lashes enhanced with Latisse® are certain to stand out on their own, but if you’re looking to accentuate your eyes even further, Dr. Watts and her team offer multiple other options.
For patients whose eyelids are not just sparse-lashed, but also drooping, blepharoplasty can help. Sagging skin above and around the eyes can give your eyes a tired appearance. By removing this excess tissue, patients can look more youthful and invigorateds—in harmony with their enhanced lashes.
BOTOX® is ideal for creating a more youthful look in the eye area, which is appealing to anyone whose longer lashes will be drawing more attention. Injections relax key muscles that cause crow’s feet, which are fine lines that develop next to the eyes.
